During research day 1, Kim and I split the two research topics to work more efficiently. Kim chose the nose, or cone, and I chose the fins. While I was researching, I discovered that the best way to create an aerodynamic rocket is to use 3 fins, and to place the fins on the lowest point on the bottle as possible. I also learned that the most efficient shape for each one of the fins is the trapezoid shape, since it creates less drag, as tested.

ReplyDeleteI found that a cone with a parabola is more aerodynamic. There were many other possibilities, but this was our best option to choose from.
